On March 9th 2024, Llah charity organize a fundraiser event for Sudan.

Keep eyes on Sudan was held at Islamic society of greater Harrisburg. The current situation in Sudan is very dire, and it’s imperative to keep our eyes on those in-need. Sudan ongoing conflicts and displacement have left countless individuals without access to basic necessity like food, shelter and everyday essentials.

Keep eyes on Sudan event served as a beam of hope, rallying support for the people of Sudan who are facing unimaginable hardship. With a mission to raise funds for the people who are displaced, the event drew attention to the urgent needs of those in Darfur and Khartoum. 

Our two keynote speakers, Muhdy Bahradin and Hajir Elsheikh, took the stage to shed light on the realities the people in Sudan are facing. Muhdy Bahradin is the founder of Darfur Alter Coalition, he has been a driving force behind initiatives that aim to amplify Sudanese voices, ensuring that their stories are heard and their struggles acknowledged. Muhdy, spent many years advocating for Sudanese voices and spreading awareness about the early 2000s Darfur genocide. During the event Muhdy spoke passionately about the situation in Darfur, where violence and instability have led to widespread suffering.

Meanwhile, Hajir Elsheikh provided insight into the challenges faced by those in Khartoum, the capital city grappling with its own set of difficulties amidst the current unrest. Hajir Elsheikh, is a Sudanese-American chairwoman and CEO of Hager Network. Hajir weaves a story of purpose and impact. With a rich set of roles as a Serial Entrepreneur, Motivational Speaker, Political Analyst, Talk Show Host, Producer, Author, and Philanthropist. Hajir’s speech at the event offered attendees a glimpse into the ongoing challenges faced by the individuals who have been displaced from their homes, and their current situation trying to live admits the havoc that struck the capital city Khartoum. 

Beyond informative speeches, the event aimed to immerse attendees in Sudanese culture. Guests were treated to an array of traditional Sudanese dishes, allowing them to savor the flavors of the region. A culture table provided an opportunity for education, offering insights into Sudanese customs, traditions, and history. Alongside the culture table sudanese t-shirts, and merch were also sold at the event, with all the sales going towards donation. And no Sudanese gathering would be complete without the rich aroma of Jabana, a traditional Sudanese coffee. 

The success of the event was event not only in the turnout but also the generosity of attendees. Through their contributions and support, a remarkable $9,000 was raised, a testament to the power of collective action in addressing humanitarian crisis. The funds will be directed towards providing aid and assistance to those in Darfur and Khartoum, offering a glimmer of hope.  

As the fundraiser draws to a close, the call to action remains clear, we cannot turn a blind eye to the suffering of our fellow brothers and sisters in Sudan. Every donation, no matter how small, has the potential to make a meaningful difference in their lives. Let us continue to keep our eyes on Sudan, standing in solidarity with the resilient people who deserve our unwavering support.
