The world is experiencing a food crisis, with many factors leading up to this crisis, such as the effects of climate change, conflicts, and the Covid-19 pandemic that highly affected vulnerable communities.

Llah charity currently supports twenty-two families in Egypt with primary food sources, along with medical and educational necessities. The charity is working to reach more families in different neighborhoods in the hope of easing the daily challenges of struggling families.

In 2018, 32.5% of Egyptians were reported to live below the poverty line, and 6.2% lived in extreme poverty. The country has struggled to rebuild its economy following years of unrest since the 2011 revolution. The exponential population growth has led to a decline in the accessibility of essential resources.

Egypt is currently dealing with rising meat, poultry, and fish prices. With many factors  contributing to the current situation, the citizens are struggling to keep up with the increased prices. Daily News Egypt reports that as of March 2022, the price of red meat increased by 2.1%.

Another article by The New Humanitarian published in October 2022 states that “a kilo of meat is now nearly four times as expensive as two years ago.” In efforts to help elevate the current increase in food prices, Llah Charity has provided up to 80 chickens to poverty-stricken Egyptian families.
