On August 11, 2020, a water well project was completed in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso by the founder of Llah Charity MOHAMED ELDRENY (prior to the establishment of Llah Charity).

The water well project is located in an underdeveloped neighborhood in Bissighin to provide clean, safe, and accessible water to the community. Prior to the water well project, residents of the neighborhood had to walk 12.4 mi (20 km) every day to bring water for their families.

With the help of our volunteers in Burkina Faso, we are now able to provide water access to over one hundred Burkinabé families residing in the nearby Bissighin area.

Three million people in Burkina Faso lack access to an improved water source. Over the last few years, armed groups have spread over the Sahel region causing widespread violence as they take over the resourceful areas and forcing many citizens to relocate in the hope of saving their own lives.

There are nearly 800,000 people internally displaced, and about 90% of them are hosted by vulnerable communities that themselves are struggling with poverty and food shortages.

Water scarcity in Africa is a dire situation and is only getting worse. As Africa’s population continues to grow and climate change continues to rob the continent of an already limited resource. It is predicted that by 2025, close to 230 million Africans will be facing water scarcity, and up to 460 million will be living in water-stressed areas.
